Rescue Foster Scrapbook

One of the things that I do with my free time is to foster needy golden retrievers for FootHills Golden Retriever Rescue. Sometimes this can be hard, frustrating and time consuming. So often, we only see a small glimpse of the lives that we have touched. So, I compiled this web page of pictures of some of the dogs that I have fostered over the last two years. Looking at this page reminds me of the happy endings and reasons why I work so hard.

Why do I foster? Read this article and it will become clear.

Darcie from Dacusville - Puppy found abandoned on a road lying next to her companion, a kitty, who sadly, was dead. It appears they were both tossed from a car. Darcie was found in the nick of time, as her temperature had dropped, the pads on her little paws were ice cold and her fur was frosty. This little pup is very young, about 5-6 weeks and will require lots of love and vet attention before adoption.

Sparkle
- ADOPTED female puppy - owner release on 09/06, 6 to 7 weeks old, underweight (4.5 lbs) and was covered with fleas, to tired and anemic to fight when they crawled into her eyes, but with the cutest face that God ever gave a puppy. She is now on the road to recovery, up to date on shots, parasite free and spayed. She will need a few weeks to gain some weight and catch up on her growth, but would love to find a forever family. Report from foster home after 1 week - Now that she is feeling better and making up for lost time, she is very active and vocal, talking about everything and terrorizing all the adults dogs. She is a pistol packed in a small package, with NO FEAR and will need a firm hand, or she will use the cute expression to get away with. Note: Sparkle was adopted on 10/03 by a very experienced dog person that needed a companion for her show dog. She loved Sparkle dearly and said she was a nearly perfect pup, but her older dog hated Sparkle and became very resentful and withdrawn, the opposite of what she had hoped. Sparkle was returned by a very sad and reluctant dog trainer. She said that anyone would love Sparkle and very few folks would love the difficult one that she has at home. So Sparkle is still looking for her "forever home". You'd better hurry because Sparkle's foster home is getting very attached to her ......
